In it to win it

Yup it's the play offs, the long awaited event. We've waited 22 months for this (so said the announcer). My teams are in the play offs. Yes I said teams. I tend to have more of a player loyalty. Here are my thoughts:

Red Wings vs Oilers
I hate the Red Wings. I want them to lose, badly. Though the Oilers have Chris Pronger and I do not like him. Even so, I root for the Oilers.

Anaheim vs Calgary
Tough one, but my loyalty lies more with Teemu Selanne than Kippursof. Teemu is the Finnish Flash after all. I almost split loyalty with this one since they both were on the Sharks when I first got into hockey. I'm all for the Ducks.

Tampa Bay vs Ottawa
I could care less. I guess I would go for Ottawa since Tampa Bay won the last one (so long ago).

San Jose vs Nashville
I have to give this one to SJ. The Sharks were my starter team. I was in So Cal when I first got into hockey. Gabby is the one who got my really into it.

Avalanche vs Stars
Avs all the way. I don't care about the odds, I'm an Avs fan. Unfortunately most of my fav players left the team.

New Jersey vs New York (Rangers)
ok ok, I have to go for NJ (shut up Erick). I may not like the Devils (despite a newfound respect), but I can't stand Rangers, mostly because of Jagr.

Buffalo and Flyers
Another I could care less.

Hurricanes vs Canadians
I'll go with SC. They aren't too shabby, besides one of their players has a white boy fro.

That's the run down. I won't be able to watch the games tomorrow due to a wedding.

Yeah, ok, so they weren't that bad

Ok, this does NOT mean I am a Devils fan. This little guy (Gionta) is so cute. Not like he's hot cute, but awwww look at the little hockey player. He was the highlight of my night, as well as one of the stars of the game. I am getting ahead of myself though.

Yesterday I picked Erick up and we headed for Raleigh. I got him tickets to see his favorite hockey team play, the New Jersey Devils. Often I tease him about his team, as he does mine. I put it on the shelf for the night. We were sitting on center ice right between the penalty boxes. OMG, I got bitchin' seats.

The game was intense. Jersey scored right off the bat. The teams were tied by the end of the 1st quarter. By the end of the 3rd, Jersey was ahead by 1 and boy the Carolina fans were pissed! They were yelling at the ref. One of their guys was put in the box. We waved him in. In the last few seconds Carolina scored! Damn it. Overtime. I was holding on to Erick's hand, sitting on the edge of my seat. Jersey won! We were excited. Yeah, ok, I was excited.

Now NJ is in the playoffs. Erick can gloat while I sit here waiting to hear about my Avs. They can make it, PLEASE!

Here is my little guy Gionta as he jumps over Gerber. He flew. I was worried.
This is when I got angry. Get off the little guy! He's only little! (a little maternal instinct there).

He gets a hug after the little guy scores the winning point in overtime!

and, no I am not a fan.

Weekend update

It's been a long weekend, well not really, but it has felt that way. I guess the heat makes the days seem longer. I am in no way complaining. I like thinking I have forever to lounge around. It's been a good weekend.

Friday night I went to a hockey game. I went all by myself. I'm proud. Holly was working at the game and scored me a free ticket. She came and sat with me for a bit. We went out earlier this past week for dinner. Prior to that I had not seen her for 2 months. It's sad how life makes us so busy that we hardly get to see the people important to us.

Saturday Erick and I went downtown. We did the scavenger hunt for Mice on Main. There are these little bronze mice hidden downtown. We followed the clues and found all of them. We also saw a whole mess of bees. Part of the street was shut down due to bees. They had swarmed and covered one of the pipes, I'm talking maybe a thousand bees. Ewww, I hate bees.

We went to see Stay Alive. The first part of the film was pretty good. It had some cheap horror thrills and some good intensity, but then BAM! It all just went downhill. It became cheesy. It was so bad the crowd was groaning out loud.

Today Erick and I went to get breakfast. Yummy! I had Cinna-bon French toast. Fattening, but good. I've lost 5lbs so I guess the indulgence won't hurt too much.

pretty soon this weekend will be all over.
